Statement by the Women’s Committee of the National Council of Resistance of Iran

The Women’s Committee of the NCRI has raised alarm over the deteriorating conditions of female prisoners in Iran, particularly political prisonerSomaieh Rashidi, who is currently in critical condition at Qarchak Prison in Varamin.

On Tuesday, September 16, 2025, Rashidi was transferred to Mofatteh Hospital in Varamin after repeated seizures and severe delay in medical treatment. Doctors reported her level of consciousness at below 5 and described her condition as “critical.” Prison officials had long ignored her urgent medical needs.

The NCRI Women’s Committee stressed that these deaths highlight the urgent need forinternational intervention to secure the release of sick female prisoners, ensure medical access, and dispatch an independent fact-finding mission to women’s prisons, particularly the notorious Qarchak Prison.
